First of all, thank you to anyone who submitted a question they’d like to ask Mr. Kalkhoven. I got a bunched a them and I was very impressed with them. It’s fairly obvious that our series might have the most passionate fans (and workers) out there. One thing that surprised me (maybe it shouldn’t have) was the amount of you guys that wished to remain anonymous, which naturally I will respect. I don’t mind cause they were great questions and it’ll only make me look smarter. Hee. Like a lot of interviews, I like to have topics ready on hand and then just have a conversation with the interviewee. I expect this one to be the same thing and hopefully I won’t be too intimidated by the man who ultimately has control on my career these days. Thank you once again for all the submission, I really appreciate it.

Well, I am certainly looking forward to California and returning to the Laguna Seca track, perhaps still my favorite in North America. There is nothing quite like it and they are celebrating 50 years this year. It’s a shame Champ Car can’t race there anymore, but realistically a better market has been found in San Jose. But at the very least they have their Spring Training there. I hope this can become a tradition. I hope the series can always have Spring Training at Laguna. If they can’t have a race, this is the next best option. I look forward to seeing many friends out there!

I am cautiously optimistic with regards to all these expected announcements at Laguna, but at the same time I am keeping my feet on the ground. There is no better way to get burned then when you expect something and it doesn’t happen. God love the Internet, but it is home to widespread fraudulent information. Don’t get me wrong, I understand there are many announcements to be made and I am certain that everybody will leave Spring Training with a good feeling. But some of the possible announcements I have read are a little ambitious.
The series is making good progress and maybe most importantly have acknowledged their mistakes in the PR department this off-season. Gotta love a company that can admit mistakes.

Say what you want, you gots to love Montoya! Any other driver on the planet does not intimidate the man. He thinks he’s faster and he’s out to prove it. I know it was a street course and he had an unfair advantage, but the way he took that checkered was impressive and risqué. On the other hand, he appeared to take out his teammate, an absolutely no-no in the world of motorsports. How will the good old boys react to that? Right now it doesn’t seem like they are very happy with him. We’ll see what happens in Vegas. Should be a good show.
