Pacific Coast Motorsports to Champ Car in 2007, bringing in Alex Figge and Ryan Dalziel to the table. The best part of this news is the drivers, as both bring plenty of personality and skill to the track. Dalziel has always been quick. Its in his nature and once he learns the car and gets comfortable, he’ll run as high as the team lets him in my opinion. What I mean by that is that If Pacific Coast Motorsports invest as much as Newman/Hass, for example, Dalziel can give you similar results. I really believe that Daizel will be as good as the car and that’s great news for Pacific Coast Motorsports because they know him and vice versa. Dalziel had a great Atlantics season and deserved to be in Champ Car last year (boy, how many times has that sentenced been typed), but things didn’t work out that way. Now he’s back in 2007 and will be ready to show the world what he can do. As good as he is on the track, perhaps his best attributes come off the field, as the personable Scotsman is exactly the type of characters the series needs. Here’s a guy who proudly wears a kilt, had dyed his hair all sort of colors and is always ready with a good quote. He’s the life of the party and backs it up on the track. My kind of guy.

Alex Figge is an interesting one. He can come off as a complete and utter clown. The kind of guy that a woman couldn’t bring home to daddy. When he was in the Atlantics, I knew him to dress sloppy and behave like a clown. It was very infectious and you can’t help but like him. Of course, this was some years ago, so maybe he has bought a new wardrobe since. But I doubt it, cause that’s who he was. That’s what I liked about him; he was being himself. And that nonchalant appearance off the track was just that, because he’s anything but on the track. I liked his driving style back in the Altantics, even if he didn’t always get the results he wanted. He didn’t always, but he sure did sometimes and when he did, it was done in fine, dramatic fashion. The kid can drive, no question about it. I would probably put Dalziel ahead on the driving ladder, but then again, with a brand new formula next season, who knows who will emerge as Pacific Coast Motorsports number one driver? And yes, the fact that he’s American helps. I’m sorry, but it does. We’ve all gone through the reasons why Americans help the series. Figge helps it. Plain and simple.

Well, Dario got injured, didn’t he? I don’t know if anything had been signed and sealed at RuSport, so I don’t know what happens with the number 10 car at Road America? I guess we’ll have to stay tuned to see what happens.

I’ll probably be tuning in this weekend at Chicagoland for the final IRL race of the season. I like that track frankly and we’ll see if the boys (and girls) can put on a good show for their finale. I just hope everybody comes out of it safe and we can forget about that league until May.
