Well, I watched both the NASCAR and IRL broadcast and I must say, I give props to Rusty Wallace in the IRL booth. I never thought one person could bring so much to the broadcast, but he has. Here’s why:
- he’s a familiar voice. No matter what kind of racing fan you are, you recognize that drawl, you recognize that experience. Rusty brings it, and so far I am very impressed.
- He elevates Goodyear’s game. Scott knows that he’s in a booth with someone who knows what he’s talking about. When Scott was alone with Harris, he brought his game down to his level. It was a one trick pony show. Goodyear was merely hyping Danica and bringing the broadcast to the lowest common denominator. No more. He needs to be able to keep up to Wallace.
- I won’t even talk about Little, but I feel that everybody on the crew is also elevating their game, knowing that Wallace is there listening.
Now, it still doesn’t compare that team to the NASCAR broadcast. The wealth of experience in that booth is top notch. They make any kind of race fun to watch. They did it again today.
I did like how the IRL commentators were amazed at the lack of yellows in the first 50 laps, like something that I had never experienced in their lives.
That Alsonso kid is fun to watch, isn’t he? I look forward to F1 changing the rules (eventually) so that Alsonso doesn’t become the next Michael. He is well on his way!
I leave on Wednesday and my schedule at my day job has prevented me from coming with good ideas for things to film. I need your help! What should I interview the drivers about? What is this year’s This or that?. Let me know!! Seriously!

This or That suggestions...
-Indy or Daytona?
-Eldora or Knoxville?
-You're leading the championship by one point going into the final race: Who do want in second place, PT or Sebastien?
-Winter or Summer Olympics?
-LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony?
-iTunes or Napster?
-"Laguna Beach" or "The OC"?
-"Sopranos" or "Desperate Housewives"?
-Jack Bauer or Chuck Norris?
hey what's your schedule gonna be like? They only scheduled me for the last two days, but I'll still be hanging out on Thursday and Friday. See you there, dear!
ahh!! i'm getting goosebumps!
I have an idea.
Interview the drivers and ask them to tell a funny story about another driver. Then tell those stories to the drivers and have them guess who the story is about.
Something that gets us some insider gossip.
